Creating a Firework-Worthy Celebration

Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate. I love the food, the fireworks, and the hours on end of being with those I love. From the time our kids were tiny, our family has made July 4th a special day of celebration and made more than enough memories to last a lifetime! After a year without parties, think of America’s birthday as the perfect excuse to go all out on your entertaining. Whether it's lounging by the pool, hosting a backyard BBQ, or heading to your local community’s parade, soak up every minute of this special day with your friends and family as we honor our nation’s history!

I always enjoy exploring creative ways to incorporate red, white, and blue into the food and décor for July 4th events! A quick search on Pinterest provides ideas that range from quick & easy to over-the-top elaborate. You’re sure to find something to make your party firework-worthy! The key is to choose things that fit you - your style, your season of life, and your budget. I have big ideas that sometimes turn out to be more stressful and overwhelming than what I pictured in my head. Don't do that! Make a good, doable plan and stick with it. Simple and less stressful is always a win!

Since it truly is an all-day-long eating fest, I always look for something light to add to the menu. Combining fruits and veggies together in a big salad is a great way to add color to your table without adding a lot of calories. Pairing berries with avocados on a bed of greens is a healthy and delicious addition to your menu. I like to add nuts, feta cheese and a blush wine vinaigrette to round it out. The only limits on this salad are your imagination and the ingredients you have at your local store or in your fridge and pantry!
However you celebrate this weekend, take a moment to reflect on our country's history and offer a prayer for her future. Even in the midst of the many challenges we face as a nation, there's no place I'd rather call home.
Wishing you all a wonderful July 4th weekend as we honor the USA!
Cheers!
Kim
